I'm giving you the rating and the wine - now, head over to the podcast and check out what I have to say about it.

Reif Estate 2007 Kerner - $14.95

I hear ya, another white, but it's winter ... well I have my reasoning, and if you wanna hear about it you'll need to listen to the Podcast or, if you choose the more boring route, you can just read the tasting notes below (the Podcast is always more fun):

Lovely peach and pear on the nose with the same flavours on the palate … heavy on the juicy pear. Simply lovely … there’s also enough acidity to balance the sweetness off nicely – this one sits at around a two – but is hardly noticeable with all that good fruit.

Reif 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve - $24.95

This week we're going to to drink what the MPP's are drinking, as the Monty Pythoners were apt to say, (evoke a British accent) "aren't you lucky" ... have a listen to the Podcast to find out what's being poured at Queen's Park, or, if you choose the more boring route, you can just read the tasting notes below (the Podcast is always more fun):

The nose is loaded with cassis and red berries, there’s also some spice and sour cherry smells in there too … on the palate there’s a little more going on with vanilla, spiced oak, cedary notes, black fruit and fine yet firm tannins.

Reif Estate 2007 Cabernet Merlot - $13.95

This week it's all about simplicity (and tasty) take a listen to the Podcast to see what I mean or just read the tasting notes below:

There are lots of berries on the nose black ones, rasp ones and cherry ones – there’s also a little bit of spiced vanilla in there. On the palate there’s black cherry, cinnamon and a healthy kick of bittersweet chocolate; as the bottle remained open it became a spiced cocoa. The finish lingers with black cherries … cocoa enrobed black cherries – sounds simple but mostly it sounds delicious.

Reif Estates 2004 Shiraz - $16.95

Reif has two Shiraz’s currently available, but don’t be fooled, they are radically different. The cellared in Ontario version is also a 2004 vintage wine, but 70% of the grapes come from Australia – and is available only at the winery. The VQA, 100% Ontario grape version, is available exclusively at the LCBO through Vintages. That’s right, according to the winery “the LCBO took it all.” And why? Because it’s a mighty fine wine. Cloves and white pepper on the nose, while on the taste you’ll find pepper and black raspberry. The relatively low tannins and easy drinking nature of the wine makes it perfect for just sitting around and sipping; while the medium finish will keep you coming back for more. Stock up, it’s in very limited supply. Available at the winery only.
